NaNoWriMon

The path to reaching 50,000 words is long and treacherous, but you don't need to go alone! NaNoWriMon love to accompany novelists on their journies, growing with every word put on the page. With enough care, some may evolve or even take on special battle forms. If you'd like to create one of your own, simply fill out the form below.

Note that in order to make a NaNoWriMon, you will need an account on the official NaNo site and an active novel. If you're able to update your official word count, you're all set! The word count shown on your NaNoWriMon image will update automatically after you change it on the NaNo site, but it can take up to an hour to catch up. NaNoWriMon only work for the November challenge, not for Camp NaNo, Script Frenzy, etc.

Glad you like it! I try to keep things current... hoping to be able to add the new UBs this year, although it will depend on how fast their sprites get ripped.

~Éowyn~

Hey, trying to make a NaNoWriMon this year and it says it's having trouble connecting to the site? My username is ~Éowyn~, perhaps the accent doesn't register properly? shrugs I'd like a (male if possible) Typhlosion nicknamed Buddy. :)

Hmm, yeah, that's not a problem with the accents. Sometimes NaNo sticks numbers after someone's username for reasons I'm not sure of, and it looks like that's what happened with yours (maybe something to do with old accounts that had the same name?). On the bright side if you enter your username as "eowyn-2744212" the NaNoWriMon form will work fine, but unfortunately I'm still not sure how to make it so that entering your display username will link it to the correct account. =/

i'm trying to get a raichu & at the bottom of the second page, beneath the gender, there's a "form" option what's the difference/does it matter which one i pick ?

The "form" option should be giving you the choice of either regular raichu or Alolan raichu. However, since you don't have any words yet, you'll start with a pichu either way; which one you pick doesn't matter.

hi so the form did eventually give me an option for either raichu & i chose the alolan version, but i'm having this problem where i update my word count and after a little while my raichu will turn back into a pikachu

I am posting the NanoMon into my signature using the < > button, but it's only showing up as link text :\ does anyone know what's going on?

Hey, I've tried pasting in both types of code into my forum signature, but none of them show up as the actual WriMon. Just a bunch of code. Has anyone else had this problem?

Kitani

I have the same problem.

Did you remember to hit the source code (angle brackets) button on the signature editor before pasting in your code?

If that isn't a fix, please include a link to your NaNo profile or the code you were trying to use so I can see what might be going wrong.

((I don't think my reply is working, so I'm just typing up a new one. Sorry if you got this three times. '^-^))

Yes, I have used the < > brackets. I'm currently attempting to use the HTML format, although I have tried the BBCode, and that hasn't worked any better. Here's what my signature looks like right now:

(Sorry. I don't have any better way to show it.)

Thanks for the help!!!

The code works in my own signature, so the only things I know of that could be causing problems on your end are copy/paste errors or pasting the code directly into the signature box instead of the source code editor. If you've accounted for both of those and it still isn't working, I'm afraid I can't think of anything else that could be wrong.

You are correct, you need to use the HTML and not the BBCode version for the NaNo forums.

Alright. I'll play around with it myself for a bit, and if it doesn't work out, it doesn't. Thank you for the help anyways! Have a great day! ^-^

It seems like there's a way to decide ahead of time what your Eevee will evolve into, but I kept getting sent to error pages. I do have a novel for this year announced. Do you have suggestions for what I might be doing wrong?

rayquaza-mega

That code is new, so I'm sure it's some kind of programming issue and not anything you're doing wrong. Can you give me a little more detail about what you were doing before you got the error? What did you choose for your eevee to evolve into? And was eevee the first pokémon you tried, or did you try something else, then switch? Did you use the "Preview" button at all?

I don't know if this has been asked, but does this work with the YWP page? I have a five year old obsessed with Pokemon and would love to use this as her wordcounter.

rayquaza-mega

Unfortunately, no, as far as I can tell the YWP does not provide any way for third parties to access word count data, so NaNoWriMon and other custom word counters can't be used for it.

I'm receiving an error and I think it's because my NaNoWriMo username has double dashes in it - when the page loads I get an error rhat I have to enter a novel this season (which I have) but I noticed that the username field says "feather-weather" and not "feather--weather"

rayquaza-mega

Awesome! Glad it worked out for you. I'll see if I can get double-dash handling to work by default; migh be tricky with how NaNo structures its user URLs.

Hello! I have tried to use both links in my forum siganture, but the actual Mon is not showing, only the link text. I have created my novel. Do I need to wait until November for it to work, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

I'm getting the 500 error, I dunno what that is. My username's CornSyrup, with the url being cornsyrup, and I'm trying to put in an Unown named Toothbrush.

Please help?

Mhazie

Hi

I have my Nanomon but she's not hatching. I know it says that it might be slow and busy on November 1st but I'm worried that it is something to do with the fact my wordcount is being updated on nanowrimo through another app rather than manually.

Hey! I'm having an issue with the gender of my mon as well. I made my fella a boy, but his gender marker defines him as a girl. Was wondering if I could get that fixed? Thanks c:

oh and my username is dazroman for NaNo.

The Flashmaster

Hey, I'm "The Flashmaster" on NaNoWriMo, tried making a Seedot with this. Seemed to work at first but when I put it in my forum signature it didn't show up. I tried the BBCode version first, swapping for the HTML didn't do it either.

Thanks in advance!
