I’ve tried copying and pasting it but it won’t work. And I looked at the FAQ page and it still hasn’t changed

Could you be more specific? When you try to paste the code into your signature, what happens: does it stay blank? Broken image? Code instead of picture?
Also, what's your NaNo username?

Hi! Trying to get the signature to work and it's not showing the image, just the lines of code. It pulled up my account though and knows my word count. Any ideas?

Hi, I tried creating one and it says I havent entered a novel for this season even though I have. My username on NaNoWriMo is minty-fresh. Thank you!

Hmmm, the Wordcount API for that ID does say there's no novel. Could you post a link to your user profile? I think this might be an issue that's popped up once or twice before that has to do with old user ID's getting overwritten by new ones.

Hi, I'm trying to use the BBC link on another site I frequent but the actual image isn't showing up. It just shows the below -
[img]http://thousandroads.net/fanfic/nanowrimon/serve?user=zilentdreamer&id=10533[/img]
The link works, when I click on the code it takes me to your site, but the icon isn't translating for some reason. I'm not sure if I need to adjust anything on my end so I thought I would ask.

What site is it? If the link works but the image doesn't, it suggests that there's something nonstandard about the BBCode the site uses, or restrictions on the kinds of images you can have in your signature.

The site is FlightRising and I think the issue is that the BBC code doesn't have .jpg or .png identifying it as an image.
Which is strange because I was able to get it to work last year.

Yeah, the fact that the URL doesn't look like an image would tend to be my guess as to what's causing trouble, too. It's really strange that you could get yours to work last year but not this year, though! No reason that should happen unless the forums got moved to a new software platform. The image shows up just fine in a browser, too, so your code is correct.
Unfortunately I can't tell what forum software Flight Rising actually uses, so I can't look up any potential weirdness or workarounds for their particular BBCode parser. Unfortunately I think at this point I think you'd have to ask an admin or someone who knows the board software if they have any idea what could be going on; don't think there's much of anything I can do from here. :(

I figured as much but at least I was able to kind of figure out the issue? shrugs I will take satisfaction in that.
But my NaNoWriMon shows up perfectly on the NaNo website so no worries there!

I love this site. I get a new Pokémon every November! I just realized my Houndour just evolved into a Mega Houndoom. How does that happen over the regular evolution path? Just curious since this was the first time I've seen it. Thanks for providing this fun part of my NaNo experience every year. :D

NaNoWriMon mega evolve when you get a lot of words down quickly, so you must have had a big update to make it go straight to the mega evolution! And you're welcome, glad you have fun with it!

Hi,
I was here last year with an evolution problem and it seems I have the same problem this year. I'm at level 26 and my Azurill is still that, an Azurill (though cute, I would love seeing it evolve). If I try to create a Marill or even Azumarill on this site, my wordcount appears high enough to have the fully evolved form (I can see a green button with an Azumarill in the preview). I didn't tick the do not evolve boxes, so that can't be the problem. Is something strange up with my account or something?
Thnks in advance! Nanesh

It's not you, I just appear to have broken the entire azurill evolution line. Malaika kept trying to evolve into a pikachu, was the problem. For now I've fixed her specifically, will get to figuring out the underlying problem this weekend. She should evolve when she next levels up.

Azumarill to Pikachu, now that is an interesting evolution, haha! Just updated my wordcount and I have a pretty Marill now, thank you!

This is my third year doing NaNoWriMo. Found this and I love the concept. This year though, it looks like I'll probably be passing the 50K mark soon, and was wondering if some kind of feature could potentially be implemented that could give people who pass 50K an additional Pokemon to level. Just something I thought could be cool.

Yeah, I've been considering some different ways to reward people (or for them to reward themselves) for getting more than 50k. One option that I'd like to implement is definitely custom goals, so if someone knows they want to go for a higher word count, like 75k or 100k, they can set things up so their mon will reach 100 at 100k instead of 50k, etc. Also allows people who want to set goals of 20k, 30k, whatever, to have a NaNoWriMon where they'll "win" at that goal instead of it forever getting stuck at a low level, even though they actually accomplished what they wanted to.
Getting a second (or third, or fourth) mon after you reach 50k once is definitely doable. I think it would be nice to give some kind of indication that you'd already "cleared" one, as an additional special thing. idk if a different color background or something, but I do want to make custom colors a thing already so that wouldn't necessarily work, or some kind of little icon, but I'm not a spriter, so my options there are limited... I don't know, did you have any specific ideas on how to implement this? Or would you simply like an option to have a second mon that starts at zero and grows with your words beyond 50k?
One way or another, thanks for the suggestion! I haven't had nearly as much opportunity to work on these guys as I'd like over the past couple years, but there are a number of improvements I want to make, and I'm always open to suggestions for new features or ways to streamline the current system.

The way I imagine this working would look something like this: https://i.imgur.com/yghl2ZU.png (I hope links are okay on here). With this design, custom goals or background colors would still work, like you said you'd like to implement. As far as an additional third, fourth, etc. Mon goes, it depends on how you want it to look. This design would comfortable fit four Mon total. After that, if you wanted them to overlap slightly, you could fit a full six. Obviously you could also shrink the extra icons, but given the size, it doesn't look so great if you shrink them even a little. That said, I'm not a coder, so I don't know how easy it is to implement something like this.

Oh, cool! I had kind of been thinking of doing like a trainer card sort of thing, but I guess you can actually fit the sprites right on the ordinary image! This would be extremely simple to do, no worries there.
What I really wonder about is how to kind of prompt people to come back and make a new mon if they've already hit 50k. If it's just mentioned in the instructions or at the end when the code is displayed, at least 90% of people aren't going to see it or know that the feature even exists. On the other hand, if I make it an up-front thing, like you start out by selecting, say, up to six mons that will get used in order, it'll make the process more confusing for everyone, for a feature that at least 90% of NaNoers aren't going to use! That's my primary barrier to implementation at this point.

Posted November 13 2018 in reply to Negrek
Hmmm, would it be possible to create a separate page for the people who wanted the extra Mon? For instance, under the normal screen where you would fill out the usual information, put some text saying something like 'Looking to push past 50K this year? You may be interested in these more in-depth options.' Then have a link to the page with the additional options. This way, it's up-front so people have a good chance of seeing it, but for those who want to keep things simple, the process remains nice and easy to understand. Obviously this assumes that the people using this feature are pushing past 50K and not setting a custom goal, but if you implement the custom goals as well, the text could just say something else.

It would totally be possible! It's really just whether I'd be able to make the option obvious and accessible for people who were interested in going beyond 50k. People have a hard enough time finding the links in the directions as it is! I've also been meaning, for a couple years now, to redo the UI of the mon selection screen to make it a lot more streamlined and remove much of the text, so that would hopefully give some space for a more prominent and accessible link.
Anyway, thanks again for the idea! I can't promise anything about implementation, since like I said I often run years behind on changes I intend on making, but I think it's a good idea and something I'm definitely interested in pursuing, if I can find the time.

Hey- I know it's been a while since you've been on the forum here, but my riolu hasn't evolved, even though I'm over 50,000 words. I made the 'do not evolve' buttons weren't checked. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks so much.

Are you positive you didn't check the "no evolution" options for all of them? Because you have two that are marked down as not supposed to evolve, and the others are all lucario at this point.
Unfortunately since they're level 100 even if I manually change their species they won't evolve because they can no longer level up.

Hi there, I love NaNoWriMon! I noticed last year that my 'mon only got to lvl 97 despite me winning that year. I figured it was because I was too down to the wire in updating my word count. But this year I updated a couple hours in advance of midnight, and my 'mon is only lvl 97 again and it's after midnight. I figure this must be a problem of time zones, as I'm in PST. Any help would be appreciated! My username is 'cubistvowels.' Thanks!

First off, I LOVED having my little Eevee along for the ride this year, watching my progress and cheering me on! But she doesn't seem to have updated with my final word count - she's still showing at 104,401 when my final total was actually 105,501. Any way this could be corrected? My NaNo username is AngelDreamer. Thanks so much!
